2024 Subaru Crosstrek vs. Chevy Trailblazer: Performance
The Subaru Crosstrek and Chevy Trailblazer both offer two powertrain options. However, the Crosstrek has the edge in both. Crosstrek Base and Premium trims use a 2.0-liter four-cylinder Subaru BOXER® engine with 152 horsepower, while the Trailblazer's standard 1.2-liter turbo-three produces 137 horsepower. If you're seeking something a little more potent to power your Emerson drivers, the Crosstrek's Sport, Limited, and Wilderness models utilize a 2.5-liter four-cylinder with 182 horsepower. The Trailblazer's optional 1.3-liter turbo-three makes 155 horsepower.
Every Subaru Crosstrek comes standard with Subaru Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive, providing surefooted handling and control in any season. All-wheel drive costs extra in the Chevy Trailblazer and isn't standard for any trim.
2024 Subaru Crosstrek vs. Chevy Trailblazer: Capability
In addition to Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive, the 2024 Crosstrek comes standard with Subaru's X-MODE® traction management system and 8.7 inches of ground clearance, providing confident capability for various conditions. It also has raised roof rails (all but the base trim) for added practicality. The all-new Wilderness takes the Crosstrek's off-road prospects to the next level with terrain-tuned suspension, elevated ground clearance (9.3 inches), and Yokohama® GEOLANDAR® all-terrain tires. Dual-function X-MODE® adds settings for Deep Snow/ Mud, while a transmission oil cooler more than doubles the Crosstrek's max tow rating from 1,500 to 3,500 pounds. Wilderness models also have roof rails with a 700-pound static load limit, perfect for a rooftop tent.
Despite what its name might imply, the Chevy Trailblazer can't keep up with the Crosstrek's off-road capability. The Trailblazer's ACTIV trim level has all-terrain tires and underbody skid plates but still comes standard with FWD. The Trailblazer's ground clearance tops out at 7.5 inches, and roof rails aren't standard for any trim.
2024 Subaru Crosstrek vs. Chevy Trailblazer: Interior
The Subaru Crosstrek and Chevy Trailblazer are on the larger end of the subcompact crossover class and two of the segment's roomiest models. Each offers ~54 cubic feet of cargo capacity, giving you ample room for errands and adventures. There's good passenger space in both models; however, taller drivers will appreciate the Crosstrek's two extra inches of front legroom. Rear-seat occupants will also enjoy an additional 1.5 inches of shoulder room.
2024 Subaru Crosstrek vs. Chevy Trailblazer: Driver Aids
Both models come standard with advanced safety technologies like automatic emergency braking and lane-keep assist. However, the Subaru Crosstrek's base trim also includes Adaptive Cruise Control with Lane Centering and adaptive LED headlights. The Trailblazer's has a normal adaptive cruise control system, but it's not standard for any trim and isn't available to lower tiers. Steering-responsive headlights aren't offered in the Trailblazer lineup.
